The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme. It aims to raise and maintain the standards within fleet operations. It also demonstrates whether your transport company is achieving best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. FORS accreditation covers four key areas - Management, Vehicles, Drivers and Operation.
They all matter - so, don’t delay.
Preparing for a FORS audit can be overwhelming. With your focus being on day-to-day company business, you’ll welcome the hands-on FORS support that we give you.
We begin by getting to know your business. We then work with you to prepare your audit documents. We’ll do this as a one-off, or if you like, we’ll manage your accreditation for the long–term.
To become FORS accredited, as a bare minimum, you need the following.
To be completed by the person responsible for health and safety in your business.
Your company drivers’ tachograph management, driver working time records and vehicle maintenance records will be checked at the audit. Documents must be available for MOTs, vehicle inspection, vehicle tax, tail lift inspections or any additional ancillary equipment.
You will need to demonstrate how you effectively communicate with staff within your organisation.
Drivers must complete adequate training.
You will need to name FORS Champions depending on the level of your accreditation. These people ( or one person) will have to take responsibility and complete training according to the FORS standard requirements.
Complaints, vehicle collisions, fuel and Ad-Blue usage and transport infringements together with PCNs need to be monitored.
Make sure your Operator licence or other vehicle operating permit is up to date and available to view by the auditor.
